“Twenty-One Conversations with Architects” brings together over fifteen years of interviews conducted by the Barcelona-based studio Arquitectura-G and published in Apartamento from its first issue in 2008. The result is a comprehensive, multi-layered volume that spans eras, archives, disciplines, and countries, bringing together some of architecture’s most original voices and different generations of designers. Originally conceived as a relaunch of the magazine’s architecture section, the project has evolved over time into a portrait of Arquitectura-G itself: the studio’s obsessions re-emerge in every conversation, from scale to ambiguity, from hedonism to bathrooms and dance, and finally to the home understood as a laboratory. Reread in this anthology, the interviews recount deeply personal homes and spaces, united by a fundamental question: what universal needs can find their answer in universal forms? The thread that connects them goes beyond their construction: it is the ability to continue inhabiting the questions that generated them. After twenty-one conversations, Arquitectura-G opens a new dialogue: collectively curated and edited by Moisés Puente, the volume invites architects to converse with one another across time.
About Arquitectura-G
Arquitectura-G is an architecture studio based in Barcelona, founded in 2006 by Jonathan Arnabat, Jordi Ayala-Bril, Igor Urdampilleta, and Aitor Fuentes. Their work ranges from temporary installations to residential projects, from shops to urban planning, with projects widely published in international media. In 2015, they received the prestigious Mies Van der Rohe Award for Emerging Architects. They also conduct educational activities, returning to the school where they met. Since 2008, they have curated the architecture section of Apartamento magazine, a collaboration that also traces the development of their critical thinking.
