Trilogy brings together the three volumes dedicated to the eponymous exhibitions curated by Martí Guixé and Inga Knölke at the National Gallery in Rome: On Flower Power, Intertwingled and Food Age.

This is how Director Cristiana Collu describes this trilogy: "Guixé's Trilogy is also a triptych, and its folds, the hinges that bind this singular tripartite work, the exhibition as a work of contemporary art, are the subjects of the objects he has investigated. Our triptych, the set of these three exhibitions - each autonomous but interconnected - unfolds here like a book, similar to the panels of a portable triptych. The terms 'triptych' and 'trilogy' are not perfectly synonymous, but it is precisely these nuances, these distinctions, that become intensely relevant to our discussion. They introduce both the static and dynamic components of an extraordinarily fertile and precise experiment. In this regard, not only the etymology but also the historical use of the word 'triptych' in classical antiquity casts an epiphanic light on our trilogy, harking back to an ancestral notepad. Indeed, the exhibition resembles a page full of annotations that are synchronically, diachronically and anachronically interwoven. The result is a layered and intricate narrative that this catalogue strives to capture." - From the introduction by Cristiana Collu, Director of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art.
